Americans with Disabilities Act Notice of Rights

The New Mexico Department of Justice, led by Attorney General Raúl Torrez, is committed to ensuring non-discrimination on the basis of disability in the operation of its programs, services, or activities. In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), as well as state and local laws, individuals with disabilities are entitled to reasonable accommodations necessary for their participation in our services, such as submitting an online complaint to our Department or accessing our offices to speak with our team.

Grievance Procedure Under the
Americans with Disabilities Act by Members of the Public

Members of the public wishing to file a grievance under the ADA or relevant state and local laws should direct their written complaints to the ADA Coordinator, Amira M. Rasheed, using the contact information provided above. Include your name, address, phone number, location, date, and a description of the issue. Alternative filing methods, such as personal interviews or accessible virtual meetings, are available upon request. File your grievance as soon as possible, but no later than 60 calendar days after the alleged violation. 

Upon receipt, the ADA Coordinator or their designee will contact the complainant within 30 calendar days to discuss the grievance and potential resolutions. A written response, provided in accessible formats (like large print or audio) as needed, will be issued within 60 calendar days of this discussion, detailing the department’s position and suggesting options for resolving the complaint.
