The Office

The Attorney General is the chief law enforcement officer for the state and also functions as the “people’s attorney.” The Attorney General is a guardian of public interest and serves as a consumer advocate. The duties and responsibilities of the Attorney General stem from statutory authority and Attorney General King’s initiatives. These duties reflect the organization of the office. Specific Divisions cover many areas of responsibility such as utility rate cases; prosecuting violent crime cases; tracking cyber predators; educating kids on Internet safety; border violence; violence against women and many more.
